Our History

In the year of 1990 when Davis Weathersby completed his coaching and teaching career, he contacted former Alcorn State University athletes with the idea of organizing the Alcorn State University Letterman Club and the name would be the A-Club.

The purpose of the A-Club is to promote the welfare of athletics at the University. From 1991 to 1993 athletes met and discussed plan to organize the A-Club. It was decided in our meetings to contact other university that had established programs and get their by-laws and constitutions to use as a guide.

After gathering all the information needed to form our constitution, the group organized the A-Club Association at the 1994 Mid-Winter Conference in Biloxi, Mississippi. The following officers were elected. Davis Weathersby, President, Lonnie Moore, Vice President, Waldo James, Secretary, Peter Boston, Special Assistant and the Director of Alumni Affairs, Charles Davis, Sectary-Treasurer.
